Our History

Orrville Veterinary Clinic was started by Dr. Jack Rogers and Dr. Lamont Shultzman in 1956. The Orrville Veterinary Clinic has been serving Wayne, Holmes, Medina, Stark, and Tuscawaras counties for many years. Previously located on Fike Avenue in Orrville, the Orrville Veterinary Clinic moved in 1979 to its newly constructed current building, located at 1665 North Main Street in Orrville, Ohio where it remains today.

Dr. Paul Masters served our clinic as our primary equine practitioner from 1973 until his retirement from equine practice in 2008. Dr Masters continues to practice as a surgeon at the Canal Fulton office.

Dr. Greg Roadruck joined the practice in 1980 as a mixed animal practitioner. He now focuses mainly on our Akron Barberton Veterinary Clinic, where he enjoys relating to pets and their owners. He has a vast knowledge and passion for animal behavior. Dr. Melvin Wenger joined the practice in 1981 and served as one of our main dairy herd veterinarians until becoming more focused on the business aspect of the company. He also is passionate and skilled at small animal orthopedic medicine and surgery. In 1994 Dr Wenger took over the presidency of Orrville Veterinary Clinic, Inc. from Dr Rogers, upon his retirement. Orrville Veterinary Clinic, Inc subsequently changed its name to Veterinary Wellness Partners Inc. in 2021. Dr Wenger served as president from 1994-2022 and currently remains as CEO of the company.

Dr. William (Bill) Yost was the next to join the practice in 1982. He was also a mixed animal veterinarian, with a focus on dairy herd management and nutrition. He is also very interested and passionate about small ruminant medicine. Dr. Yost is now retired and enjoying life with his family and grandchildren that all live locally. From 1983 until 2002, we had several veterinarians join our practice and subsequently move on. These include Dr. Vivian Grant, Dr. Laurie Lowry, Dr. Julie Nestor, Dr Bradley Dalton, Dr. Jackie Lee, Dr Matt Friend and Dr Lydia Friend.

In 2002, Dr. Jeffrey Fink joined our practice. Originally from Cincinnati, Dr. Fink practiced as a mixed animal veterinarian with an interest in small animal surgery, equine health management, agricultural production medicine, and equine reproduction. Due to several shoulder surgeries, Dr. Fink has transitioned to small animal surgery and medicine full-time, which has allowed him to expand his surgical capabilities to include some newer procedures. Dr Fink is an owner/partner of Veterinary Wellness Partners, Inc. and oversees small animal surgery and is primarily at the Orrville loction. In 2003, Dr. Judy Jackwood joined our practice after leaving Cleveland Road Animal Hospital. She excels at small animal medicine and surgery at the Orrville Veterinary Clinic. In 2007, we purchased two additional veterinary clinics, which allowed us to expand our small animal services to the Seville, Wadsworth, Medina, Norton, Lodi, Akron, Barberton and surrounding areas. We are proud to be able to expand our capabilities to help people and their pets of these areas.

In 2008, Dr. Gabe Middleton joined our practice. He has taken a lead role in our bovine and equine departments and has a variety of passions within veterinary medicine. He has expanded our dairy herd reproduction to include diagnostic ultrasonography and fetal sexing of dairy cattle. Dr. Middleton is very active in the veterinary community serving in many capacities within several veterinary organizations. Dr Middleton is an owner/partner of Veterinary Wellness Partners, Inc. and succeeded Dr Wenger as the President of Veterinary Wellness Partners, Inc in 2022.

In 2010, we Dr. Marissa Hofstetter. Joined our busy practice. She is from the Orville area and is one of the primary veterinarians at the Seville Wadsworth Veterinary Clinic and Southern Medina Veterinary Clinic. She recently received her certification as a Fear-Free Certified Professional. Dr Hofstetter is an owner/partner of Veterinary Wellness Partners, Inc. and leads the small animal medicine team. Dr. Michele Awad-Morris joined us in June 2018. She is a large animal practitioner serving our large animal and equine clients. Dr Awad-Morris is an owner/partner of Veterinary Wellness Partners, Inc. and leads the large animal team. Dr. Meghan Studds joined our practice after graduating from Ohio State in May of 2019. She re- joined VWP in 2023 and practices small animal medicine at our Seville Wadsworth and Southern Medina Veterinary Clinics.

Our 5 large animal veterinarians, based out of Orrville Veterinary Clinic in Orrville, travel to farms in the region extending from Massillon to Wooster and Medina to Millersburg, a 5-county area. This team focuses mostly on cows and horses but works on all farm animals. They provide 24 hour emergency services to the farms we serve. In 2023 we added Dr Erin Homerosky to our team and in 2024 Dr Clint Recker is joining us. They join Dr’s Middleton, Awad-Morris, and Gasser along with our 5 large animal technicians to make up the large animal team.

In 2018, we proudly incorporated Elm Ridge Animal Hospital into our network of clinics. It is at that point that Veterinary Wellness Partners was born. Elm Ridge Animal Hospital was in Canal Fulton, on the edge of Jackson township and has been serving the area for many years. With the incorporation of ERAH, we added two additional veterinarians: Dr. Melanie Butera and Dr. Heather Kinney. We also gladly welcomed Dr. Paul Masters back into our family as the main veterinary surgeon at ERAH (now known as Canal Fulton Jackson Veterinary Clinic). We then welcomed Dr. Cheyenne Davis to our small animal team, and Dr. Clint Gasser to our large animal team. In 2019, Veterinary Wellness Partners acquired the previously-named Medina County Animal Clinic, which is now Southern Medina Veterinary Clinic. We welcomed Dr. Nancy Deucker to our team, who joins Dr. Marissa Hofstetter and Dr. Meghan Studds as the primary veterinarians at this clinic.

In 2022, we purchased the building that is now known as Canal Fulton Jackson Veterinary Clinic (previously known as Elm Ridge Animal Hospital). This clinic is still staffed by the same great veterinarians and support staff, and is literally right down the street from the old Elm Ridge

Animal Hospital in Canal Fulton. We officially moved into this location in February of 2023 and are excited to be able to offer separate canine and feline exam rooms, a dedicated surgical suite, a dental suite, updated treatment areas, and digital imaging space.
