IMPORTANT PRESS RELEASE: CANINE INFLUENZA (H3N8)
Orrville Veterinary Clinic, Inc. offers a full range of companion animal health care
services on-site including:
Physical Examinations
Professional physical examinations are the most important aspect of quality pet
care. Because animals age faster than their owners, examinations are needed more
frequently than once a year. We perform a comprehensive examination on each pet
prior to performing any procedures or treatments. Many diseases can be detected
prior
to the development of damaging
clinical signs. Sometimes a small problem is an indication of a larger disorder
or disease process. We also offer specialized examinations, such as ocular (eye)
examinations, orthopedic examinations, external parasite exams, neurological
exams, and many others.
Surgical Services
We feature an exclusive surgical suite where we perform all of our surgical procedures.
Procedures that we perform include, but are not limited to: Spay/ neuter, declawing,
dewclaw removal, tumor removal, biopsy, ocular surgery, caesarean sections, abdominal
surgery, orthopedic surgery (see below), and many more.

Orthopedic Services
We perform many examinations each year on animals that are lame or limping. Many
times radiographs are necessary to evaluate the limbs, pelvis, and spine. We
offer OFA certification. The OFA program is designed to help detect and reduce
the incidence of conditions such as hip and elbow dysplasia. Our orthopedic surgical
services include: fracture repair (including intramedullary bone pinning), FHO
(a surgical correction for hip dysplaisa), cruciate repair (like ACL repair),
and wedge osteotomy (a correction of a knee problem affecting mainly smaller
breed dogs).
Boarding and Grooming Services
We are closely affiliated and located adjacent to the Orrville Pet Spa and Resort.
This premier boarding and grooming facility offers many services for our canine
and feline friends. Call (330) 683-3335 or follow this link to obtain more information.

Diagnostic Laboratory Services
We offer a wide variety of lab services. We perform the majority of the services
at the clinic, so results are available on the day that they are performed. Some
tests must be performed at an outside laboratory. Outside lab results are usually
available in 48-72 hours.
Radiology (including Contrast studies)
X-rays allow us to see the size and shape of many of the internal organs and
bones, as well as to see many foreign bodies that your pet may have swallowed.
We can administer barium and other contrast agents to help highlight many conditions.
Through x-rays, we can diagnose organ enlargement, tumors, bladder or kidney
stones, broken bones, arthritic conditions, intervertebral disc disease, hip
dysplasia, as well as many other conditions that may be present.
Ultrasonography
Ultrasound technology can be used for so much more than just diagnosis of pregnancy.
We use ultrasound to highlight the internal structures. We are able to visualize
the structure and makeup of the liver, kidney, bladder and other organs, and
can detect some structures that are not visible on radiographs. Ultrasound can
be used to obtain a guided biopsy of tumors or a urinary sample directly from
the bladder.
Senior Wellness Program
Once a pet reaches the age of seven (even earlier in some large breed dogs),
they are entering their senior years. The health of your pet can change very
rapidly during these senior years. Early disease detection is pertinent to quality
of life. Frequent testing helps to detect disease as early as possible. Recommended
tests include a complete blood count and blood health profile, urinalysis, fecal
examinations, EKG, and glaucoma screening. Other tests are recommended depending
on the evaluation of your pet.
Kitten and Puppy Education
Every body loves puppies and kittens! We strive to educate pet owners about their
newest family members. We cover many topics such as housebreaking, vaccination
schedules, dental care, flea and tick control, heartworm prevention, pet proofing
of your home, and several ideas to ensure quality care of your pet. We have a
puppy/kitten starter kit to send home following your first visit with your new
pet.
Radiowave Surgery (Surpasses LASER)
Radiowave surgery is the newest surgical technology that is available. We feature
the Ellman Radiofrequency unit. This technology is above and beyond the laser.
Using high frequency radio waves, an incision is obtained that decreases blood
loss, pain, and recovery time without burning or charring the tissue. For more
information, click here. (link to pamphlet)
Pharmacy and Prescription Services
Medications are often necessary for the optimum care of your pet. We have an
in-house pharmacy. In the pharmacy, we can tailor our treatment to the need
of your specific pet. If your pet should need something that we do not have in
our clinic, we can order that medication quickly, ship it to your house, or script
it out at your preferred pharmacy.
Dentistry
Dental care is an extremely important aspect of overall pet care. Does your pet
have bad breath? This may indicate dental disease. To perform a complete cleaning,
we anesthetize each patient. This allows us to clean and polish each and every
tooth. We offer tooth extractions for broken or severely diseased teeth.
Ophthalmology
Eye care is another critical component to the care of your pet. Changes to the
appearance of the eye can be an indication of several systemic diseases. We are
able to perform glaucoma screening using tonometry (eye pressure). We can also
evaluate the eye and the surrounding ocular tissue using specialized medical
equipment. Several additional tests can be performed to evaluate tear production
and the integrity of the cornea (the clear covering of the eye).
Referral Service
Occasionally a pet may require the care of a specialist. Veterinary specialists
are certified and trained in specific areas of medicine or surgery. We have a
relationship with several referral institutions. These facilities offer specialized
care in internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, surgery, dermatology, radiology,
ultrasonography, cardiology, and oncology.
Transdermal Vaccination
This is a new form of vaccine that is currently available for feline leukemia.
This needleless vaccination uses less volume, is painless, and offers superior
immunity than the traditional subcutaneous vaccine for feline leukemia.
24-Hour Emergency Services
One of our doctors is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year.
Please call (330) 682-2971 if you have an emergency. We are able to handle most
emergencies at our hospital. If a pet requires 24-hour observation or major critical
care measures, we have an established relationship with a local emergency care
facility.
Microchip Identification Service
We sympathize with any family that has had a pet disappear. We can place a small
microchip under the skin of your pet for identification purposes should your
pet become lost. Using a scanner, each pet can be identified and then returned
to their family, but only if a microchip is present.
